Security Level Requirements?

Does the Security Level need to be of a specific type or size?

I generated some pages with SecLevel as an Int(1), then noticed that SecLevel is
almost always Text in the sample apps...so I dropped the SecLevel field and
recreated it as Char(1)....

Well, it's not working...I've regenerated with a couple of different combos...

Any easy answer to this one....
