Out of the blue our file upload feature is throwing this error:

An error occured when uploading file specified in AttachmentUpload. Error description: Microsoft VBScript runtime error, Permission denied.

Any ideas?, our host is clueless!

This seems to be a permissions error, therefore possibly you've changed the upload location - did you maybe test a local upload location on your local computer and then re-publish your project to the server?
Otherwise the host would need to check if IUSR user has Write permissions for the upload & temoprary folders.

Hi all.

I don't know why everybody is talking about permission settings on folders and stuff.I had the same error out of the blue.I was sitting at my chair without messing with folder permissions at all and my application stopped uploading jpg files.Other files like .txt are still uploading.I got the strong feeling that this is some sort of bug either in CCS or in Win itself. It is just impossible for something which is working to stop without reason at all.Actually I was working on another page then I went back to the page with upload component and it didn't work anymore. On the other page I was playing with the background colours. And anyway if it is a permission eror how come .txt is ok?Any Ideeas?

Probably because this is the most common and known reason of this problem.
Also, no one specified that they can upload some file types but not others, therefore those problems may be different from yours. And actually in most cases this problem is due to permission problems, therefore there is nothing wrong with classifying it as such.
That's why it may not be a good idea to tag on someone else's post and claim that the answer is wrong. Your problem may simply be different...

Just a note that this part of the error comes from Windows: "Microsoft VBScript runtime error, Permission denied." Even if something was not working properly in CCS, it's difficult to explain why this error message may be not true (wrong).

If you republished your project than it's possible that the publishing/FTP process re-created some folders with different permissions. Also some Windows Update could affect your system, or the Windows temporary folder could get filled-up, etc.
Actually try uploading small files vs. large files. Possibly small files can be uploaded (.txt or .jpg) while larger .jpgs cannot. If that's the case then you may need to cleanup your Windows temporary folder (or do it in any case).
