Hello:

I have developed a web application in php4 using codecharge. The application size is 12 Mb. The problem is that the aplication speed is too slow. Is there any way to improve the speed??
Changing the languaje?? changing to PHP5?? I think that the reason of slower speed could be because every time the common files are loaded. Is there any way to change the common files to improve the speed???

Thank you

Your applications speed is determined by several components, for us to help you speed things up we will need to have some more info.

What platform are you running on?
What application language did/do you use?
What Database engine?
What are the servers specs?

Speed can be:
The response merely on presenting html;
The SQL queries used, taking to long to get results;
The Hosting company or the server itself;

There are a lot of patient helpful people on this forum, combined knowledge and expertise can and probably will help you speed things up, so take some time to describe exact as possible what you are experiencing.

Walter

Every application and every page loads common files, so it's not important if an application is large or small, or 12 MB or 100 KB. Plus loading common files is usually the fastest step performed on a Web page.
I recommend that you first find out what exactly is slow. What do you mean by "application speed"? Every page in the application? Even a page that displays only HTML? And what about other applications running on the same computer?
