Hi again,
I've been messing with pulling info from a table to make dynamic 'tooltips' using the TITLE property of A labels.
The drawback with this is that it appears to only work for short snippets of text.
On many new web sites I see popup text windows with a LOT of text that look -exactly- like tooltip windows; ie. no borders, shaded, etc.
How is this done? Can it be done using JS and CCS dynamically?
Thanks,
---JC

You are probably referring to a 'floating' <DIV> element, where there is
relative or absolute positioning specified in the CSS (NOT 'CCS'!) for that
element and that makes it float over the rest of the page content.

Hey! Thanks for the speedy reply!
I don't think it's one of those floating elements, since these are really independent windows that have their own 'Close' button.
A great example is Netflix --- they have these popup descriptions of each movie that are -very- nice looking and -fast-.
Any other ideas?

No, it really is just an HTML element floating over the page:

Take a look at their HTML to se what they did and how.

JC,
Go to http://www.dhtmlgoodies.com
He has a few different tooltip scripts. The nice thing is that you can use
full HTML to populate them.
Plus, they have lot's of other free stuff you can use in your apps.

Suntower,
I would suggest that you look at the "overlib" libraries if you are doing tooltips,
I have had problems with "http://www.walterzorn.com/tooltip/tooltip_e.htm" alternative and went back to to Overlib http://www.bosrup.com/web/overlib/ whick proved to be easier to use and a lot more stable in cross browser situations.

How can I modify this tooltip program and make this tooltip have focus and also can contain more stuff like links or animation...?
Any suggestions?

In overlib - have a look at the examples as you can populate the "information" with whatever you like. You then can apply a "sticky" event to it so you can gain focus.
This week I am about to do the same - my app requires an information box and 5 menu selections to appear, I am confident that overlib will handle it.
Look at their example areas.
You will need to understand Javascript to use the above, but it isn't that hard.
