Another niggly...

There's no Cut/Paste for pages. I'm trying to -move- pages into separate folders. Yes, one can drag and drop them (tres cool) -but- if the destination is off the page, the dragging doesn't work (grrr...).

So... is there another way around this?

Thanks,

---JC

I'm not sure what do you mean by destination being off the page but you can try right-clicking on a page and using "Copy To...", then delete the original page.

Hi Peter,

Let's say there are 50 pages in the Project Explorer, but only 25 are visible at any one time. If the page I want to move is number 50, then the folder I wish to move it to will be up -above- the top-most visible line of the explorer. In most apps, when one tries to drag 'up' past the top of the listbox, the listbox entries then scroll -down- to show the hidden entries. CCS doesn't do it (at least not here) so I can't drag the destination I need.

The 'Copy To' is annoying because it doesn't automagically update the links to the pages, it does when you drag/drop.

Finally, I want a Ctrl-X and Ctrl-V just on principle because frankly, the less mousing about, the better, IMHO.

Thanks,

---JC

Basic WinHandling.

.take the lowest page in your project explorer tree
. left click the page it to drag it
. now move cursor up all the way, right up to the point where you expect the 'scrolling-up'

If it doesn't scroll up, (while still pressing left mouse) move your mouse pointer, which should actually have changed to the "no dropping here icon", over the up-arrow of the scroll bar and it will scroll up, or when you move it over the down arrow of the scroll bar, scroll down.

or use a 32" vertical monitor
Walter

Tested.

In Project explorer add Newpage 5 times
Resize CCS to such a size that in ProjectExplorer you can see the Newpage3,4 and 5
Do the above.

Neat-o.

But lest you get -too- smug, CCS is the 1st app I've -ever- had to do the 'drag over to scoll bar' thing with in all my years with Windows (and despite what you may think, it's been a while). Maybe it's in the UI guide, but it sure ain't user friendly or self-evident.

YS: Please implement a keyboard shortcut for -everything- when you can.

Thank you, Walter.

HA,

As a matter of fact I have been doing this for a long long time too.
My shaking hands naturally moved over the arrow, that's how I found out.

;-)
As an extra, ever used the Workspace menu option?

GMT+1 02:13 AM, so signing off

Walter

Like I said, Walter. You da man.

Even those it's a GUI, I only use the mouse when there is no other way. I find the mouse an incredible time waster. I appreciate the tip.

I'm sure that eventually CCS will save me oodles of time, but right now, it -feels- like learning VI or something old like WordPerfect, where it's great once you learn it, but oy until then. Just my vague impression at this point. I'm sure I've grown lazy, but I just don't have the energy I had 20 years ago to 'master the environment' before actually getting something done.

As always, thanks for the help.

I hate the mouse, I use a rat! i.e. a roller_ball. Far less risk of RSI and when you move it the pointer moves, no more banging the mouse, grinding grooves in your desk etc.
