I get this warning message for all projects.

Warning:Error occurred when creating Virtual Directory in IIS: Unable to find specified host. Please verify the Server URL host name. It should match the IP Address of the Default Web Site in IIS.

It is not causing a problem - I don't think - but can any tell me why and how to resolve?

I had this too when publishing to a remote server. What worked for me is the following sequence when creating the site folder:
0. Delete any old dir that was published by CCS (e.g. c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite)
1. Create the site dir (e.g. c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite) on the remote server manually
2. Open IIS Administration (Start|Administrative Tools|Internet Information Services) and create a virtual directory for the site (e.g. virtual dir 'mysite' for folder 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite')
3. Now re-publish from CCS

Hope this helps

Thank you for the post. I appreciate it.

There's probably one more part of the equation, because from the beginning, I did exactly as you described:
- Create folder manually
- VDir from IIS
- Publish from CCS
