Hi!

I would like to see an improvement to the "Add Function to SELECT" within the Visual Query Builder. (In case some people are wondering, this feature is available after right-clicking on any selected column within the Visual Query Builder).

I think CCS would be even more powerful if we were allowed to add ANY type of function, including custom functions built by myself for my projects. For example, I have created over 40 custom functions in my Oracle database, however I cannot select them within the Visual Query Builder.

I realize that Custom SQL is available, however it is much cleaner to use the Visual Query Builder whenever possible, to help keep coding consistency (less mistakes) and easier changes later in the development process. This is why I am requesting this feature.

Has this already been proposed for a future release? If not, please pass this on to you product planning or development team!

Keep up the good work!

Glerma,

Good suggestion, second that.
Meanwhile did you know this one:
In VQB Table mode (just as you example)
Suppose you have some fields in the SELECT part, like id, name,
numberofparts
VQB give you the ability to add a function to a field by right clicking the
field and then offers some standard functions.
Now if you want you own functions used on a field, go to the lower right
pane of VQB
click the field you want the function on and type it there.
So right clicking the field numberofparts and selecting add function SUM
is in fact equal to clicking the field numberofparts in the lower right pane
and typing SUM(numberofparts)

even better
in an empty row you can type any valid funtion!

This goes for the Where as well enabling you to do sub-selects.

And I agree using VQB table mode is always to be preffered over SQL mode.
