 Generating Embeddable Components vs Pages

I recently tested version 3.0 pf CCS to output some reports for a client of mine (a major telecom provider) where I needed to embed some reports into an existing Classic ASP framework. This framework already had extensive user and group security features as well as full templating.

At that time I tried embedding CCS output code into this system by generating components versus standalone pages. CCS generated VBScripted classes which was a very nice feature and the output of these was as always - very nice - there was only one problem - they did not work.

Search forms did not work with their respective grids, nor did the edit forms. In short, when I generated components nothing worked. I was able to generate full pages that did work, but this required an unholy amount of editing and hacking to get them to behave under the CMS already in place. I was unable to sell them on the idea if using CCS to re-write their admin interface and some of the user grids in CCS for this reason.

The question is: Has this been fixed in the 3.1 Version of CCS? I really like CCS, the output, etc. But I, like others, need to be able to embed the grids and forms in existing applications.

Thanks

CCS is not a component generator and doesn't generate components. It is a Web development tool for creating Web applications. I believe that many Web programming frameworks work in the same way and you cannot mix them or include one into another. Most frameworks use own templating system as well.

There is nothing to fix. CCS works just fine in this area.

However, if you don't know how to do something I recommend that you ask how to do it or if it can be done, or why it cannot be done, etc. not if it has been fixed.
I've also seen others including CCS pages into other ASP applications without big changes...

Thanks.

Hmmm,

I remember being able to generate two absolutely distinct types of output, and one (in classic ASP) was generating nothing but ASP classes and they did not work properly because they did not interact as they did when full pages were generated. When I called into tech support the tech simply mentioned that I shouldn't use that feature but should generate the pages instead.

The page output versus the ?component? output was very different - instead of having all the code at the page level, everything was wrapped up within a single scripted class. I want to be able to generate grids and form and have them interact propely without all the overhead if having CCS generate a lot of code I have to throw away.
