I have just bought Code Charge Studio 3.1 and am attempting to get my head around it. It will take awhile I suspect as I have limited expertise in PHP and MySql, which is the combination I will be using. I have read all 330 or so pages of the manual and a lot of other stuff on the site as well as well as done searches on this forum, found some info on Dreamweaver but still not clear on it.
I am wondering if anybody has had any experience with the following scenario?
1. I create a folder and make it the root project folder for CCS and Dreamweaver 8.
2. In Dreamweaver I create a page that will be how I want the overall web site to look complete with pop-up menu etc.
3. I make a Dreamweaver Template from this page.
4. I create an instance of this Template and name it say Home_Page.html in the root directory.
5. I start to create a new page in CCS called Home_Page, it sees this page already there and asks if I want to use that instead, I click yes.
6. I add what ever with CCS and close the page.
What I would like to know is :
1. Does CCS recognize Dreamweaver template tags (<!—InstanceBeginEditable <!-- InstanceEndEditable --> ) and leave them alone.
2. If I open the template in Dreamweaver and change say a menu item, will Dreamweaver upset anything that CCS has done?
Has anybody had any experience in doing exactly this scenario with no problems, that is creating pages using Dreamweaver Templates and working on them in CCS and Dreamweaver.
Cheers

greg,

Yes as the blocking configuation is different - try it on a Test Page.
2. If I open the template in Dreamweaver and change say a menu item, will Dreamweaver upset anything that CCS has done?
Not if you know what you are doing and stick to CCS's standards- keep lots of backups.
Take Note of a few things that have been mentioned in passing by PeterR. HTML changes are coming to be more Web 2.0 compliant on XHTML - this will affect the templates, etc.
Also be aware that since Frontage's death (yay!) I would expect that CCS will need to align itself with MS Expression to provide extra capabilities. This may not happen - it just seems logical that it should as Dreamweaver will not allow for a CCS plug-in.
Cheers Edd

Pity, ..... I know some purists don't like Dreamweaver, but I can't get along without it
