 Joomla and CodeCharge?

I have worked with CodeCharge for a long time, it is very strong in data handling (forms and displaying, etc), however on the interface design and text content handling is not great. I am getting into Joomla (the most popular open source CMS) which could superbly complement CC weak parts... if just there would be an easy way to integrate both of them. Has someone done any advances on this? Like building a Codecharge component/module for Joomla that could share the same MySQL database (users, profiles, content, new tables needed, etc.). I mean something more than an isolated wrapper inside Joomla.

Any experiences or comments on this?

If somebody has done something on this, please share tips on how to get started or components that you have already built.

Rene,
Did you make an progress on this. I have a new client that wants functionality added to Joomla. I'd love to use CCS to get it done!

As my post has been unanswered at both forums (Joomla and CCS), I will start doing some research. The hard thing is that I have been using CCS with ASP, so I will have to go through the CCS+PHP learning curve to be able to get some integration with Joomla.

I will keep feeding this thread with my findings.

I've had success integrating CodeCharge with WordPress (the most popular
open source CMS). The key is the Exec-PHP plugin. It looks like Joomla
has a similar plugin called RunPHP. This will allow you to run PHP
scripting within a post. I've also been successful displaying
CodeCharge pages with grids, forms, etc. simply by putting them into
HTML iframes and displaying. The iframe can also be referenced within a
post.

There once was an attempt and tutorial over here : http://www.rexdesign.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=38&highlight=joomla

Joining in, suggest change topic title: remove question mark.
CCS 3.1,PhP5, MySQL5, Joomla 1.0.12stable.

My task at hand is a self contained application to run within the Joomla realm.
My application will have a front and back-end.
The back-end has administrative functions, login through Joomla would be a pré.
Front-end could be an iFrame solution, mimicking the layout of the Joomla site could be the other option.

I will first study the module approach used within Joomla, then the RunPhP as per datadoit's post.
My Joomla tables are prefixed jos_ my own have a different prefix enq_.

Just for the curious and obviously running db connections is a different matter but its quite easy to get a basic php app working in joomlas template...

Create a file called hello.php

<?
echo 'hello!';
?>

And drop it into a directory below the Joomla components directory of the called com_hello

so ...

Joomla
       |_ components
            |__ com_hello
                     |_ hello.php

Then call it via http://www.yourdomain.com/index.php?option=com_hello

Here's a slightly different approach...

I've been using CCS since it was called CC:-) - I've built just about everything you can imagine Fleet management systems, telemarketing systems, full blown eCommerce web sites the lot!

I have been using Joomla for about a year and I've wrapped lots of CCS apps within it. The other day I installed Joomla 1.5 cos I need to setup a blog (Wordpress wasn't an option- windows server issues). I built a blog and frigged about trying to get the thing to look right for a day - I don't like to settle for the template out of the box.

Not happy I did it from scratch in CCS 4. The design was better and I had more control over the L'n'F, it was also much quicker.

Now I've been wondering with all the skills of the CCS community and this wonderful tool we have, could we (the CCS community) build a CMS for us all to use, for FREE.

The CCS CMS project!

What do you think?

Tony ;-)

I'm just asking the question.

Could we (the community) make a CCS CMS?

Tony,

I think CCS CMS would be a great project. I would definitely participate.

Who else jumps in?

Feha build a full fledged CMS for commercial use.
Licenses are available as are add-ons.

Building a community CMS is a nice plan as long as everyone understands the size of things.
With so many OpenSource options available, we even stopped developmnent on our WebCharge CMS, Joomla Mambo for the bigger projects but the one we use these days is CMS Made Simple, has all one need is regularly maintained by a nice and active community and is easy to understand and explain to end users.

Starting a CMS project would have my input, as long as Fases are defined with clear goals per Fase.

TopMenu of this Forum, 'Members', click that.
Order by name, page to Feha and 'PM' him with this exact question.
Also some of his CMS Work is in Tips and Solutions and the Showcase.

to be honest - I'd much prefer to see codecharge being used for writing joomla components/modules/mambots rather than a full blown CMS.

Why reinvent the wheel?

@TonyReid

Agreed, did join http://forums.yessoftware.com/posts.php?post_id=95232 though to see where they go.
We abandonded development of our own CMS, functional homebrew, in favor of OpenSource alternative (CMS MadeSimple) that had the same approach to ours, but as their community was s much bigger we adapted that product as our customers CMS (sall to medium).

Hello All

Yes I have developed a commercial CMS very advanced features but it is still in CodeCharge Studio Version 2.

I did not had a time to convert it to the latest CodeCharge Versions.

This is a longtime work and commercial project, more than 2 years of my work.
I would participate on free projects but I'm very sorry that I do not have that much of my "free" time.

The Vision. To CMS BE3 is still available for sale as a project but CCS 2.
I do not have a time to make conversions to newer CCS3,4 versions.

There is a friend of mine who is still developing it:
http://trinityhome.org/Home/index.php?wpid=16&front_id=12
He has build lot's of modules and a complete web shop module, an Vision. To CMS BE3 expert.

I can sell a redistribution licenses for $1200 and you can continue to deveop your own applications based on it.
And deliver-sell as your own applications unlimited.

I have build another CMS for the company I'm working for that is commercial too.

My best regards and wish to all of You success on new CMS.

Or I can offer total exclusive rights for Vision. To CMS BE forever to any buyer for $5000 one time fee.

This would include a limited e-mail support and answer to eventual questions about further development.
The buyer could release it even as open source if wants so.

I built a Cms some time ago with ccs and am currently making an up grade.
This wont be offered as open source .I will make it available to view in about a week hopefully.
I think a CCS CMS would be a good Idea and am willing to participate and possibly provide some server space for the project . may be a show of members hands willing to join in is in order.
