Hi all.. pulling out my hair and feeling beaten down ....
I have a grid with students with a detail link that opens a record (link carries the grade =s_grade parameter)
This record has course data in a Listbox.
I put a Where on the Listbox that filters the courses by the parameter s_grade.
EVERY grade works except for '5th' and '3rd'.
K -works
1st- works
2nd works
4th- works
Makes no sense at all.....
Any ideas?
The courses table that the Listbox pulls from has course ID, course name and course_grade. The s_grade pulls from course grade.
It is a varchar field and all relvant fields are set to Text.
I checked to make sure that the 3rd grade courses had no spaces before and after and that the grade in the classlist table was also correct (no spaces before and after)
Crazy crazy.. but I know it has to be something simple.

Attempt to isolate the problem by eliminating variables.
Query the database directly - forget about CodeCharge. Open up
phpMyAdmin and do the query there to see if you get the same results.
If phpMyAdmin isn't available, use MySQL Manager, or even ODBC and M$Access.
Also, when you do your query's where parameter, use single quotes around
the value. Ex:
SELECT * FROM tbl_courses WHERE course_grade='3'

Great idea DataDoit, I'll give that a try after work today.
Leo, will send you the db files if I can't get it to to work tonight.

Hi,
Is it possible that you had a grid with alternate rows (based on 2 rows in the design), and then removed one of those rows? Search the HTML for "AltRow".

Or add the BeforeExecuteSelect event and put this in it:
$Component->Debug=true;
to see what CCS is actually doing.

A lesser man would probably delete this thread and hope no one notices....however, I will post my solution to this problem in the hopes that others can learn from my stupidity as I have.
When client tells you that certain data is in the table.... check it.
Client had asked to filter each subject (reading, math and writing) by grade level.
What they neglected to tell me was that 5th and 3rd graders don't participate in the testing so they have no data in the table at all......
So.. on my design database I had all grades, but on launch, when live... they didn't have those two grades in it.....
Sorry for all the trouble.. but I learned a few new things on the way.
Thanks for your help.
