This is new to me. How do I display the results from a table in a grid? What settings are required?

Thank you anyone who can assist me.

What is the content of your blob?

In Forms and grids it is type Memo, useful only of not containing binary
data. Use field text/textarea type Memo

Hello Walter

It is actually a "sketch" from a PDA which is part of a form gather ing data to deliver to a MySQL DB so I have assumed that the image will be stored in a blob field, naively I must admit!

So this sketch is stored in a Blob, not a big problem.
What image type would that have been?
You can store (gif, jpg and the lot) in a blob and properly display it.
Important is to know what the original image type is/was.
A few image types can be recognized from the binary data itself, but knowing
up front is best.
The way to display imagedata from blob field is through an external .php
file.
That file retreives the row from the daabase, loads the data from the blob
field and 'streams' it back to the caller (your form) adding the appropraite
header to the data.
If this is what you try to achive, report back image type and i will post
example.
I think it is in the forum already, try search for "blob" "image blob"

Hello Walter

Thank you for the response. The original format is BMP.

Unfortunately, the lossless BMP image format is not a Web-compatible image
type. Only JPG (JPEG) and GIF are supported in all browsers and PNG is
supported in many newer ones. I created a form for uploading images that
lets me upload BMP but it converts on-the-fly to JPG before inserting into
the BLOB.

Your script for displaying the images would need no HTML and have only a
Before Show event to get the BLOB contents, add headers to it, then output
the results as an image. You call it from your other grid as though it were
an image itself.

Sounds nice DonP.

Care sharing your script (BMP->JPG) converter? :-)
