I have looked at the Updating Many-to-Many Relations via CheckBox List example and it seems to be exactly what I want to do but because I an a newbie I am not sure how to convert the asp code to php.
This is code available somwhere on this site or generous contributor?
I learn by examples and believe I could modify any code supplied. Would appreciate any assistance available.
PS. As I am now making my app adhere to business rules and custom code is going to be required what would be the best way for me to move forward with php? Some sites seem dodgy and which book out of the hundreds?

You can look at the PHP code instead of ASP.
Here are the instructions for creating projects based on examples:
