Is it legal to start an open source project using codecharge studio as a development platform?
I'm thinking about starting a project and would like to be sure I'm not running into legal obstacles here.
I'm using php as the coding language. I know my own code can be liscenced as I see fit but how about the common files that are generated almost the same for every project? That's code the guys at Yes wrote. Some of it looks like common coding practice and therefore doesn't look to me as a copyright issue. I mean there are only so many ways to create a database connection
Just want to know where I stand before putting in the time.

Applications, projects, code created with CCS are applicable to your own licensing terms.
As far as I know.
It is of course not legal to distribute CodeChargeStudio, each of your developers would have to have his own licensed copy.
As far as OpenSource licensing is concerned:
- Contact Support, to have a real good answer
- Some of the components used within CCS might have their own licensing conflicting with GPLxx

I'm sure everyone would benefit from a clear answer that's why I posted on the forum. Might be helpfull if Yes could give a clear answer on this.
I understand each developer would need to have his own copy of codecharge studio. It's the generated code and common files I was wondering about.

Ron,
If Yes answers that would be great.
Meanwhile, if they do not restrict the usage of any software created with
CCS
and the do not restrict, than opensource would be no problem would it?

I can see it's codecharge alright but they liscence under bsd. How do I find out it's with permission from Yes? Peterr seemed to imply the common files were copyrighted by Yes in a previous thread. If so how can they release under bsd?

It might be a good idea to send a request to support ( http://support.yessoftware.com ) and see what they say?

As I suggested in my first reply contact Yes Software.
