Can anyone help please? - I have a grid with a Link control that contains a file location on the server. When the user clicks on the Link, the file is opened in a new window - the files are Word docs or RTF docs. The database table has a Status field that I want to programmatically change when the Link is clicked to show the file has been downloaded, but Link controls don't appear to have suitable Events for this. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

any suggestion:
Have the download open a new window/page
display the "downloading file now"/"if download does not commence click
here"
type of messages or any message or even open the document.
At the same time in the events of this page you can update the SQL to set
the status field.

Trry making the first link go to a gohst page with nothing on it. In your before show event on that page, change the status in the database and then redirect the page to the file.
