Hey guys
I know I am missing something here, but I am doing the employee directory tutorial t that builds the code off of a MS access file to help with something I need to do later. I must be missing something in the tutorial, because I am getting the directory done, but not the links. What I am trying to figure out is how you link each name in the directory up with their specific information in that when you click on their name it takes you to a specific page with only that employee information. So far all I am getting is just the employee database. Anyone who can help with this or help me see where I might be missing it in the turtorial, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks

Not sure I fully understand the problem, but here goes a try...

On the Default page, the Name link next to each employees name, directs you to the EmpDetails page.

The EmpsDetail page is set to look for the emp_id number and display the record for that number.

(Where emp_id = emp_id)

You set that in the href source of the Name link. That's where you tell it to Show the name of the employee but when you click it actually calls the Employee ID into the URL and then on over to the Details page.

Does that help?

hey ckroon
If you have another sec. I got the tutorial to work, and now I am working with my own file. Everything works just like the tutorial until I click on the live page tab, whenever I do that I recieve this message instead of the working page
Unable to establish connection to database.
Error information:
Microsoft JET Database Engine (0x80004005)
Could not use ''; file already in use.
Other possible cause of this problem:
The database cannot be opened, most likely due to incorrect connection settings or insufficient security set on your database folder or file.
For more details please refer to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q306518

Any idea how I can solve this problem? When I go on microsoft's page it says the knowledge base article is not available. Any thoughts?
thanks

Sounds like you don't have your system set up right.
What are you working with Php/Mysql?

If so, get WAMP and install it.
