Hi everyone,

I have been developing in PHP to mysql remotely hosted databases for a while now but have a need to develop in ASP.NET to a MYSQL database in CCS. I am having a devil of a time trying to figure out the connection setup for the project. It says in the CCS manual that if I intend to use a MySQL datbase for a published ASP site I must make the connection using an ODBC DSN created using the MyODBC driver. But it then gives no details on how to do this.

I have created an mysql database called 'myaccountants'. I have a DB user called 'myaccuser'. I have a ODBC DSN connection established called 'myaccountantsodbc'. The driver version is MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver. The server in this DSN connection is set to 'localhost', port 3306 and I have set option=3 and put in the user as 'myaccuser' and the password as required. It tests fine ('connection successful') within plesk.

CCS is talking to my local 'design' server perfectly allowing me to set up forms, tables / fields lists etc...
So my toruble is with the server side of the connection setup in CCS:
Database is set to 'MySQL'
Date Format: 'dd/mm/yyyy HH:nn:ss
Boolean format: 1;0
Use Limit/Top is ticked
Same as design is UNTicked
Here is what I am not sure what to do:
Do I select 'Use a managed provider'?
if so which managed provider type: do I use? 'SQL Server Data Provider' or maybe 'OLE DB.NET Data provider?
What should my connection string look like?
If I build it what data source name should I use?: 'myaccountantsodbc'?
Or do I select 'Use ODBC Data Source name'?
if so what settings should I use for it?

Or am I crazy for going down the path of ASP.NET with MySQL. I have choosen MySQL as it comes with the remote hosting I use for clients and I have selected ASP.NET as I start using MS ExpressionWeb tool to the rest of the website.

I have been reading pages 107~110 in the users guide but it seems to be focused on MSAccess as the db using the jet engine.

Thanks for any help in advance...

This post should have been in the .net forum so sorry for the misplaced post.
By the way the solution to get over this hickup was that the remotely hosted server 'can' support asp.net 2.0 but defaulted to asp.net 1.0 unless that was changed in the set up. Thanks to the CCS support crew who gently pointed that out to me. This has fixed that immediate problem and has prgressed my first asp.net mysql db project a little further.
