Hi guys:
I just wanted to share a little frustration with CCS.
I do love Codecharge Studio, but I definitely do not like Windows. I
have a beautiful and stable Linux Desktop. I have been trying to install
CCS through Wine and CrossOver office, and it succeeds in the install
but it doesn't run.
I wouldn't like to have to install a virtual machine with Windows XP,
because I do not want to waste me scarce memory running this OS just to
use one program, and is frustrating to see that the only reason I have
to keep a machine with XP is because I have to use CCS.
I think many people will appreciate to have the CCS developers team to
make it run under Wine or Crossover office, so many Linux users could
use it in their preferred OS. I think it would be good for YesSoftware
businesses.
Also, if anybody has succeded in run CCS in Linux, please share their
experience with the forum.
Thanks a lot and best regards.

I am in total agreement with Alvaro on this one. I've been using CCS for about 4 years now and really wish there was a reasonable Linux solution. I come to the YesSoftware forums on a regular basis just to find out what is happening with getting it running on Linux. Wine has come a long way and would be the perfect solution. I too, have successfully installed it only to have it fail in the validation phase.
I use CodeCharge on Windows for a few projects that I do alone but, on the group projects I'm involved in, we use other PHP frameworks, such as Qcodo and now Zend Framework. The reason - I can't convince the other developers to use Windows. Not that I can blame them. Linux is an incredibly productive development platform. The other developers are impressed with what CodeCharge does but are not interested in encumbering their lives with running, maintaining, securing and re-securing, validating and re-validating Windows. If not for existing project maintenance, I would not have kept my CCS licenses renewed.
Please, can't someone at YesSoftware spend a little time investigating the Linux/Wine solution?

as a CCS user (with Windows), I would MUCH rather see their efforts go into enhancing the functionality of CCS and not into supporting other operating systems. it is really not that much of a hassle to maintain a development system with Windows if you need the productivity gains CCS delivers. just my opinion! :)

My suggestion would be to list your wish in the Wishes forum. Maybe Yes might consider it sometime in the future.

Greetings,
The only reason I stick with XP is because CCS won't run under Linux.
I would love to completely switch to a Linux desktop, but can understand if Linux doesn't feature in Yes plans.
