I'm trialling CCS, but I'm stuck. On a Win XP workstation, I have installed:
Apache 2.2 8 - OK
MySQL 5.0.51a - AOK, migrated MS Access databases, using SQLyog to manage.
PHP 5.2.5 - Finally got that to work, after a bit of fun with Apache conf.ini etc
In CCS, I used the Application Builder to begin a new Project. I just selected a few of the tables in a MySQL database, and let it build some list views (ie, Grid control), and some maintenance forms (ie, Record control).
The maint forms seem to display OK in LivePage, although no data is displayed, and <Add> doesn't appear to work (no record added when I query table in SQLyog). Perhaps you can't do that via LivePage?
My main problem is that none of the list views (Grids) work at all - LivePage just displays "The page cannot be displayed". In Preview it looks OK, but doesn't display data...
As I don't know what to look for next, I'd appreciate any help!

There's likely a config problem between PHP, MySQL and Apache.
To save yourself a lotta time and headache, strongly recommend
uninstalling those and installing packaged software like XXAMP or WAMP.
Easy breezy and works out of the box.

Thanks, good advice, had I known previously about these 'setup' packages I would have used one!
However, I feel I've got Apache and PHP AOK, and MySQL in itself seems AOK too. I'm just wondering if something isn't right between PHP and MySQL? But what?
If I start a new page, and use a builder (say, the Grid), everything proceeds just like I'd expect it to. I can select the table, the fields and so on. Everything appears to go smoothly until I try LivePage, then I get the 'cannot be displayed' (HTTP 500 - Internal server error).

Looks like I have solved the problem.
In PHP I had enabled the newer MySQL extension, php_mysqli.dll, which is designed to work with new MySQL 5 features. I changed this to use the older one, php_mysql.dll.
Now, when I try LivePage, I get the err msg:
Quote :Database error: cannot connect to Database Access denied for user 'ODBC'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
However, the User DSN I have set up specifies the root user (as its only on my test workstation), and the password is also specified.
I had created a CCS Connection using this DSN, and specified root user and password, on the tab 'Design'.
But on re-opening the Connection (to double-check the settings), on clicking <OK>, it now throws a msg:
'Server/Database or ODBC connection name' is required.
Leaving this property blank may cause application errors. Continue?
Clicked <No> and I was taken to the tab 'Server'. Huh??? Why would I have to complete all the server/db name stuff again, when I have specified an ODBC DSN?
After entering the fields on the Server tab of the Connection, I finally retrieved some records!
Looks to me like CCS has a bug with the Connection - despite specifying an ODBC DSN, it doesn't appear to actually use it!

CCS has 2 connections per 'Server profile'.
One is used during design time, one is used during 'run' time.
The design time connection is ODBC based and needed to feed the designer with all the stuff needed to do the design magic.
The 'run' time (server) connection has to be supplied as well, which does not mean it cannot be an ODBC connection as well.
The Server connection however, I, always use the 'native' connect.
Do not confuse this with the setting for additional Server profiels though, as they are mainly provided as a means to cater for the remote site (production server(s)).
So basically what was presented to you is intentionally, and caters for:
design: msaccess, server: (My)SQL
design: (My)sql through ODBC, server (My)Sql.

Thanks Walter, guess I didn't find that Connection setup very intuitive!
Cheers, Max

Not intended to be patronizing, but:
do read, re-read the docs specialy section about working environment, deployment and connections, there are a lot of good hidden features there.
Have fun!
