It needs ODBC only on the local development PC but not on the live
server. For the live server, it uses a regular connection string.

You can download ODBC drivers from the MySQL website (link below) for Windows, Linux & Mac OSX.
I use a Linux box to host my Intranet and databases and ODBC works fine.

Hope this helps you out

Thanks a lot for Your help. Actually I have the ODBC driver, but my question is about what do I need to do in order to publish my site, i mean, where in the program I have to configure the remote connection?

Thanks a lot.

Project->Settings->Connections: (Add/Modify)
also available in
ProjectExplorer->Connections: double click the connection name

Three Tabbed Dialogue:
- Design: the settings needed to access the database during design time.
- Advanced: extras
- Server: the settings for you (Design time) server
ODBC can be used in all two, but can be DB specific connect strings in the
'Server' Tab.

Answered.
Extra: See Help File and/or Docs also on 'Server Profiles'
These enable you to define the settings for 'production' servers

Open your project
In the top middle you will see a listbox with Server1(Local/Network) CLcik it and select Server 2 (FTP)
Now go into the publishing settings. SEt thete Desgin the same way yo have on Server1 and then the Server settings are the FTP, remote host settings.
