Hi,
Is there a mechanism to add the header and footer controls automatically when creating a new page? I believe that the page template does not support controls.

You have to add the header and footer manually but you could just create a master page with a header and footer include and copy the master page everytime you want to create a new page.

With 'copy the master' you probably meant to tell
to set his as the default template in project->settings.
