Hello,
When I select a tab,no matter where the tab occurs in the sequence of tabs on the page, and then wish to edit a record within that tab by selecting a link from a grid to my desired record, when I click the grid link the cursor leaves that tab altogether and returns to open the left hand most tab.

I then have to re-select my desired tabin order to edit the record opened by the link.

Does anyone now how to get around this please ?

HI,
If the link to the desired record is on the same tab you can use an update panel within your tab panel to fix the problem. When you click the link it is reloading the whole page and so it defaults back to the starting tab each time. You are likely to find when you navigate to the right tab that the desired data is there. The update panel is like an IFrame that will be the only thing updated when you submit a form linked to or within the update panel. If it is a link you might need to set the refresh trigger on the update panel to trigger with the onclick event of the link or something similar.

How To:
1)Go to your HTML code find the start of you tab panel tag and click just after the beginning panel tag.
2)From the Form tool kit select the update panel and it will be inserted into the position of the curser.
3) Select everything after it until just before the end tag of your tab panel and cut it.
4) Click between the beginning and end tags for the update panel you just inserted and paste the content. This should cause the content to now show under the update panel label in the page tree.

Go to design mode to make sure you haven't corrupted anything by missing an end tag or something and publish the page. Try it without adding the onlick event trigger and if it works you are done otherwise try going to the refresh properties of the update panel and browse the page tree until you find the link you want it to refresh on and put a tick in the onclick box, it looks disabled but it isn,t.

Hope this helps

No, this is not the desired behaviour i am desiring. When using a tabbed view/tab/update panel, and I enter some text into the form on one of the tabs, if i do not submit the form (lets call it tab 1), and then leave that tab by clicking on another tab, and then return to tab1 the text I typed into tab 1 is still there. I do not want it to be. I actually want for a tab to be refreshed if I leave it and then return to it.
