I just started a new project and I'm having problems including a header and footer.
The pages were written within CCS but they do not seem to render when I view them on the live site.
All I get is: {header} {footer}
My last project was written in asp and I did not have the same issue, is there something I am missing?

Check the URL, you are probably doing:
\\localhost\pagename or \\localhost\pagename.html
you should do \\localhost\pagename.php
Check that first, if true, there are several ways to overcome this default behaviour.

Walter is correct, but your server config is probably defaulting to "index.html" before "index.php". If you are using IIS there is a setting that configures index pages... you need to move PHP above HTML

Thanks, yes that seems to be the problem alright.
I don't own my own server is there anything I can do in that case?

What OS is your server running?

In Project Setting set template directory to 'template'
Delete all stuff generated in target server and regenerate.
CCS will now publish all HTML in template directory, all scripting in webroot.
Now when you call pagename, there is no HTML version so the PHP will be executed.
And that is all there is to it.
Next step could be .htaccess.

Thanks guys,
Richard I'm really not sure what they are running I can use either ASP or PHP but i'm on a shared server so they won't make any changes to the settings, my best bet is to try a solution within CCS.
Walter I have another PHP application ( forums ) running in a different directory and it runs exactly as you described, I think that is going to be the preferred solution.

Please change title of thread to [RESOLVED]....
BTW, the changes Richard meant can be done through .htaccess in which case you do not neet any interaction from Hoster.
You're welcome
Walter

Hi Guys,
I followed this advice because I had the same problem with my index page but now when I publish even just a page it takes ages before it actually finishes and becomes available live. Before it would be quite quick for a single page. My web server is on my local network on a Win 2003 server so transfer speeds should be as good as it gets. It seems to generate the page dependencies at the same rate but when it come to the "Publishing to" it takes ages.
I might need to change back and edit my apache config to look for .php first instead cos this will drive me nuts. (well more than I am already!)
