There'll be no user conference in Amsterdam, St. Pete, wherever if Yes
isn't even willing to get in their cars and drive five miles down the road!

:)

Thought it, but didn't want to be the one to say it.

Since it is a "User's Conference", as users we can have it ourselves as an informal and unofficial part geeky and part party event. I bet some of the developers would like to come since they are relatively close by in Ukraine as I understand it. That would be more interesting than marketing reps as it would be if it was an official event.

Ok, we have to take a vote for the location of the European version of the conference; 4 good candidates in Amsterdam, St Pete., Stockholm and Budapest. I like them all and they are within a reasonable distance from where I will be normally. Maybe "all of the above" on a yearly rotating basis.
Which has the cheapest decent hotel and beer prices? I think Amsterdam or Budapest would be my choices(if it can't be in SPb).

The US side would probably settle on Las Vegas or SF Bay Area, of those two, it is far cheaper to visit L.V. but the food is much better on average in SF, and food trumps cheap hotels anytime.

If we wanna go for the beer, then our destination must be Prague 8-) (been there, done that)

That is the beauty of living in Europe, every where fun is within 3 hours.

When I used to travel a lot, being based in Califorina it was a major journey to go anywhere except Mexico. I like Prague but it is so overrun with touists now it is not as much fun as 10-15 years ago. Popularity ruins every cool place.

Any meeting make sense if it involves more than 1 person. :-)

How many participants are we talking about?
Looks like ~10 ppl including Europe?

How about doing it in 2 groups: US -L.Vegas & EU - Amsterdam or whatever
and then setting up Skype video sessions between 2 groups?

If it is planned quickly, I might be able to attend both. I am not sure I when I can leave California with new work visa in hand but it had better be quick since I am getting used to this wonderful weather and my mothers great cooking.

I'll be the oficial photographer, since I just bought a very good new digital SLR camera, (Nikon D90 with several lenses) and have to have an excuse for spending twice my budget. When I told my GF how much it all cost she was upset until I told her nothing less could properly capture her spectacular beauty. That did the trick.
