I created a record builder component that contains company information. One of the fields is a link to the company's website. It functions.

I would like, however, to have the browser open a new window/tab when clicked, so the client can view the company website AND the record at the same time.

I have been thru the tutorials, but not all of the samples. If there is an example that I can learn from great... Thanks in advance.

Regards

Check this site. It will allow you to create a pop-up window by using a link

Hi

It's actually pretty easy. When you create the link or edit it, click on the advanced tab for the link control. Drop down target and select _blank.

That will cause the link to open in a new window.

both of these suggestions work wonderfully. Just a note about the slight difference in behavior between the 2 approaches (and this behavior might be expected, but I'm new to the web, so I'll just explain what I see..)

Using the CCT Popup window produces a new window in both Firefox and IE.
Using the _blank approach produces a new tab in Firefox and a new window in IE.

I'll leave both links on the page for a bit and see which one the users like best.

Thanks to both of you...

It all depends on the user's setting in his/her browser.
In both FF and IE7, I decide if your target="_blank" will open a new window or a new tab.

true. but what is the default behavior in each browser? because that's what 90% of your users are going to see. and I'd bet IE and FF do it different by default! :)

IE7-> Menu Extra-> Internet Options, Tab settings, reset defaults (then Cancel)
Offers as default: Pop-up in new window, links in new tab in current window.

FF, will ignore settings if the link has settings for the new windows like sizes.
I do not know the default settings, and I do not want to reinstall (lol)
