I use PHP, Mysql, and want to build a simple auction system. By default I display a grid of all items listed.

I have 2 tables, Items and offers. one to may relationship. To ease on the read process, I want to populate the username who made the last offer to the item table as well as the bid. the Itme list refresh every few seconds and do not want to run through all offters getting the last bidder's info. For this reason I created a field for the bidder's name, value and phone also in the Items table. when a person enters bid information I want to update the offers table (to keep history) but also update this info to the Items table.
How can I do this?

G'day Andre

I'm thinking that in the form where the user submits an offer, you'd use the AfterInsert event to execute an Update query.

I've done something similar in a Voting system, where a user 'votes' for something (a Story). The Vote itself is Inserted via an Ajax call, and also Updates the Story table with the vote average, and total number of votes.
