I've started a new project, and I'm having a problem with all the pages at the Internet site. The project runs OK on localhost. The error is:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/.highlite/maxhugen/gardenhub.net/Classes.php on line 333

I'm getting this error on the following pages, none of which have anything much in them:

www.gardenhub.net/index.php
www.gardenhub.net/test.php
www.gardenhub.net/PHPInfo.php
www.gardenhub.net/Session.php

One test page gave the same parse error, but in a different place:

www.gardenhub.net/test_conn.php

My two other sites, www.eipdna.com and www.chrisarminson.com both run OK, they are on the same server, so I'm at a loss to figure out what's happening.

Any ideas or suggestions pls? I'm dead in the water until I resolve this. :(

FWIW, I created a plain php page to display php info, ie
<?php
phpinfo();
?>

It's at www.gardenhub.net/php.php. So, I don't think there's anything 'strange' happening with PHP at the server; besides, the other 2 sites are running AOK...

Hard to say Max

2 things, that might prove insignificant:
1: /home/.highlite/ that .highlite, do the running sites have that too?
As a .filename will be hidden it might mess something up, not sure.

2: It vaguely looks like something might be wrong as to SQL Connection names

www.gardenhub.net/php.php generates 404

G'day Walter

Re (1), that's the absolute path from the server... it's OK, my other sites have similar paths

Re (2), I wondered about that too. Line 333 in Classes.php is creating a variable for the connection (I think). Somehow though, I think it's a bit of a red herring - but I did have some issues with the connection, when I tried to connect (in CCS) using my laptop, instead of my workstation (which was OK).

I' m kind of wondering if my 'fooling around' with the connection (from a different computer on my home network) has somehow buggered something up in CCS.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I should scrap the project and start again - although that's a rather pathetic solution - if it even works.

Max

Follow me on this:
On your develop machine you have design and server connection set (profile 1).
You do use profile 2 FTP for a definite publish, do you?

Do not scrap, check and reset connections specialy profile 2 (or 'n' for that matter).
It all works for me..

Hey Walter, who's 'Rick"?

I (ie Max :-D) have connection 1 set to my localhost setup. Server 2, like my other projects, is set to the ftp, similar to my other sites.

I think I should try deleting my CCS connection object, and recreating it... I'm grasping at straws I guess....

Cheers, Max

Mentecky is Rick
Maxhugen is Max
Mix-n-match, sorry. doing multiple things at the same time.

Hope you will solve it.
Just as a nice pointer:
I lost some time figuring out why at a development system the database wasnot updated.
Design worked fine, all fields where available.
Testing the database just was not modified.
Now, I have my own servers and some (at project dev time) accept mySQL connections other than localhost (viewed from the server)
Eventually it turned out that my development server settings where using the live database.
(Which was modifying nicely )

Greetz,

Walter

No luck I'm afraid. I deleted the Connection, regenerated, created new Connection, regenerated, etc... but still getting the error. Back to CCS support....

I am having the same error, on my local host everything is fine, when I upload I get
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /*****/local/home/*******/********/enquiries.php on line 17
and also
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /*****/local/home/*******/********//Classes.php on line 333

I only have the error if I modify a page then send upto my server, I use a separate FTP program to upload.

maxhugen has you issue been resolved

To Both:
Server Profile->Connection:
MySQL or
Improved MySQL (MySQLi)
The 4.x 5.x setting, although not influencing the php version test in Common.php, does influence some functions (according to Yes)

Yes has responded to my support case, and said the same thing...

I've just checked the server, and although my other domains on the Internet server were set to php5, this 'gardenhub' one had an old setting of php4. <very red face>

All fixed now, thanks guys!
