After you've added the two listboxes, open the Feature Builder, select Dependent Listboxes, and follow the prompts.

How about when both listboxes have the same table as their data source ?

I don't understand why one listbox is dependent on the other, in that case... can you explain the situation further?

Can be done, as long as you know or have a hierarchy within that one table.
You could alias the table to use it on itself.
@Max, like the directory example.

I have a single table. There is a common field which is used to record both a Business Unit head name and also for any Business sub-units as subordinates of that head. There is also a field called Parent id. A Business sub-unit has the primary key (UnitID) of the Business Unit head recorded in this field ParentID.

Ah, right Walter, I now see roughly where this is going. The business unit table is hierarchical...
So Michael, are you working on a Record based on another table, in which you need to record the business unit or sub-unit?

The plan is this: when a user logs in , they are presented with the dependent listboxes . If the business role of the user is to managerially administer a particular business unit head and its sub-units, the dependent listbox allows the user to select any business unit head which they are authorised to administer, and then subsequently any of its sub units. The selected sub-unit is then saved as a control value set as a session variable, which can be applied into a search filter of a grid on any of the operation pages, so that only that sub-unit displays in the grid. The user can then return to the dependent listbox page and select a new business unit head and business sub unit to administer, at which stage there will be an updating the session variable.
