I have built a record and grid in CCS 4.
It seemed a good idea to let the record be invisible and just show up when an update or new entry was needed.
So I created two panels - Panel1 and Panel2.
I draged the grid into Panel1 and the record into Panel2. and set the show modal to:
Panel1usersDetail.onclick; This beeing the link from the grid to the record.
The Modal window works perfectly but the record is not populated with the data from the grid.
Outside the panels it works just fine.
So I am stuck with a perfect modal window with no data in the record (Which was kind of the idea).
I must be missing something basic here - has anyone else succeded here - making the record work as normal when inside anoter panel than the grid? (No documentation on Yui or Pt could be be found)

Guess no one has got this right, so modal windows can only be used to add a record, not to update,

Jumping to conclusions, lol.
Of course me ( and maybe others) are trying to build what you describe here.
So possibly an answer will follow.......
Meanwhile the basics of what you want, I already accomplished in CCS3, CCS4 using panels.
see the calendar at www.dubbellul.nl/calendar
where the booking appears and disappears on both insert and update.
I am following that principal and trying to apply it to your Modal window approach.
Be patient, as I have many other stuff to do as well.
