when i first started with CC 1
i did my first grid to display some data. i was amazed how easy create a grid was.
but the problem started to customize the grid as a newbie what i first did was go to
the Program.asp and manualy change the WHERE="". was very easy.
(of course i noticed grey part turn to white)
Grid worked i was more amazed
then i noticed i cant changed anymore the grid using the click/property i have to doit manualy.
i though this was normal. so every time i need to create a grid i have to be very carefull on the design before i change the Where="" in the main code casue i know i cant change anymore the grid.
then i found a trick if i changed the WHERE-"", before i change the grid i have to go back
to main code and put WHERE="" again back (jaja ) i was amazed again "easy".
man was like month later i started to know the event parts of CCS and how ignorant i was using the product.
i laugh at my self everytime i remember that.
even i was teaching someone how to use the CCS (scary) i teached they have to designed first great before change WHERE and SQL casue whne he changed there is no way to go back at design mode. (man what a teacher )
Now i think you could do everthing in CCS
but remembering those days are funny.
i dont remember very where but is like around year 2001-2002)
i think i still learn something new always.
i was ignorant at that time but still funny to remember.

I totally feel what you are saying here.
When I started CC, I was soon overwhelmed by what it could do, and how much I had to do and learn.
I was not happy with the learning curve, but I stuck to it.
CCS2, CCS3, CCS4 actually give me pleasure discovering all the possibilities and trying to find standard ways to overcome any impossibilities.

I am getting reactions to my post now that even amaze me!
Nice to not be alone!
Keep it up.
