At the risk of being banned here like John for simply pointing out open issues and a lack of support for CCS4, I have issues that have not been addressed and seemingly never will be.

I, like John, have owned CodeCharge Studio since it was Beta. I have paid for EVERY version since. Now the issues I am running into are making it useless to me and are effecting project deadlines.

A partial list of these issues include:

1. CCS randomly regenerates pages deleting components that have been there for ages.
2. CCS randomly deletes event code without warning or reason.
3. Apparently publishes temporary pages used for editing as templates. This one threw me because the resulting page looked like the page in designer. Complete with the dashed borders around components.
4. Running a builder sometimes goes through the motions but never creates the component. Then gives a bunch of errors on generating code saying components were deleted.
5. Options dialogs on HTML tags routinely generate script errors and screw up style attributes in the HTML requiring manual editing.
6. Database connections work or they don't. Many times in a session I lose all my table and column definitions requiring exiting CCS and restarting.
7. Decides it's no longer registered requiring a complete un-install, delete the folders left behind, re-install of the software.

There are plenty more and a quick search of this board will point them out. The bottom line is CCS 4 was a waste of time and money for me as the only version that is usable is 3.2. I regret ever using 4.x for a project but I wanted to use the menu component. I should have stuck with 3.2 and hand coded it.

Having been a large supporter of CCS in the past, paid for the original version and 3 upgrades, and helped many people on these boards it pains me to say that I need to move on to a tool that works reliably.

If you can't take the truth and feel you need to ban me like John, please at least send me upgrade information when you fix these problems.

Rick

Mentecky I really hope you don't get banned and I hope they let john back in. He was very helpful, as you have been.

I use CCS4 EVERY day and I can honestly say I have never run into ANY of the problems you listed.

Are you running Windows ME by any chance
;-)

i get html tags screw up sometimes requiring hand fix up and sometimes a complete page rebuild but never seen any of your other issues.
i too would like to see john back - although i did feel some of his comments towards the end were just sniping and not productive...

ckroon: No I got rid of ME weeks ago :-) I am currently using XP on my desktop and Win 7 on my laptop.

damian: Yeah I've had that issue. I've also had issues with deleting or changing a component will break the one before it in the HTML. For example I have a link next to a listbox in many of my pages. Deleting the link breaks the listbox to the point of when I select the listbox in design view it doesn't show the properties and CCS deletes all of the events for that component.

I did find the cause of one problem that was making me nuts. Appearently, changing the ID of a component is BAD. I had changed the ID in the properties/data tab of a component and after that I would get "Not Responding" and CCS would crash any time I loaded that page. The reason I changed ID was to have it match custom Javascript code I had written for that page.

Thanks for responding!

Rick
