hi there,
last night i bought ccs5, i used also previous Versions before. i use since a few days Windows 8 consumer preview and after installing everything i installed codecharge. unfortunately it does not start!
if i want to start it i can see the first Screen saying "Verifying: XML DOM Document… Passed" and nothing happens. I Also tried to start in compatibility modes, as administrator, with and without Virus scanner, with or without MS Defender. i googeld everything and there is another Topic in here which says reinstall after deleting registry entries. i even did this !
does anyone has an idea how to start ccs5? i Need it really urgent for my job!!!!
badest way is to Format Laptop again and use win 7 again but i love win 8 and everything works fine exept codecharge. i wrote to Support but still no answer!
greetings andf thanks in advance, mirko

ist not a beta, ist a preview. window's coming out in autumn… os isnt important for creating Software in my opinion. i use win 8 because i have reasons to and codecharge should work on win 8 like on win 7 or vista, every other Software works perfect. ive had the same starting problemsn with the ccs5 beta on win 7 so it doesnt seem to be a prob of the os…

Windows 8 still Beta until Autumn 2012 why use instable S.O. to work on production code ?
If you want to use Win 8 install a VM with Win 7 and wait the future CCS version fixed for Win 8

Hi,
It would be better to install Microsoft Virtual PC on your Win 8, reinstall there your previous Win 7 (or whatever), and then you can run the CCS5.
You have to attach a folder to this virtual Win 7, where you can store your projects. And when CCS5 will run natively on Win 8 the you can easily change back to your win 8.
If you put effort then you can solve database connection and web page checking to your base operation system.

p.s.
(IMHO: the preview version of win 8 is launched to bring the feeling to the customer how it will look LIKE. The software development cycle has the steps: Alpha, Beta, Preview, Release Candidate, Release. However win 8 is already in a good stable phase, it is definitely not inteded to use in production enviroment... I am wondering what answers can be given from yessoft to such a question...)

I honestly don't believe that Code Charge 5 won't run on Win 8 as it's supposed to run any app that runs under Win 7. I also don't think Code Charge support should have to support an unreleased OS, especially since this looks like an improperly configured PC. I think there are some dependencies that need to be installed probably a 64-bit/32-bit problem. Have you tried installing the x86 vcredist? I'm not going to load 8 somewhere to find out what the problem is, but if you'll Google other programs that run under 7 that are not running under 8, I bet you'll find your problem instead of assuming it's something CodeCharge did (which I'm betting it's not).

because of codecharge is that important for me i decided to install win 7 again! what a pitty! win 8 worked that good for me and my needs, everything works, even apache and all software i need EXCEPT ccs5!
i not wondering about the fact that codecharge support said that they dont support a none existing os like win 8, i am disappointed because i know that the staring failure also happed in other os with previous ccs versions. its nothing serius i think...
i also thought that ccs5 AS A BRAND NEW SOFTWARE should be able to handle an os which comes out in a few months and should be able to run like every other software also do!
hours and hours away because of one software which is sadly most important for me.
thanks for your replires, i think this thread is done now...

I have exactly the same problem as Seichobob, except that I am trying to install CCS 4.3 on Windows 7. After installation at first launch, hangs at exactly the same stage of the splash screen (displaying message "Verifying: XML DOM Document… Passed"). The problem is not connected to Windows 8.

hi,
thants exactly what i said. its not an os problem, its something in codecharge. its very easy for the support to say that they dont support non existing os. i knew that the failure was there before and thats the reason why i am so disappointed

* Windows 8 is A BETA (Release is in OCTOBER) and i guess will be DECEMBER
ITS A DAM RELEASE, NOT DEVELOPER WORK FOR BETA CUASE THEY CHANGE TOO MUCH
******* ITS A DAM BETA *****************
and if you have a a isue in Windows 7 Then Install in a Clean Machine if that work then is YOUR SETUP and SOFTWARE you may has Intalled in your COmputer (Check your Explorer Version BETA)
YOU has 2 option:
1 USE the Software
2 DONT use the software
"I doubt you will find something similar, for quick/fast/design Around"
PS: They may create some patch to be close to Windows 8 but is there choise............
AGAIN: This FORUM is for CCS Users, you wont get CCS developer response here.
we still dont a peter-like person for the forum yet. so your choice is SUPPORT.
ALSO The VisualStudio 11 is in beta (that is supposed to has all teh core stuff for windows8)

I'm sure when Windows 8 gets closer to final the company will do what is necessary to get CCS running well on it. It's Definitely too early to expect support for Windows 8 today.

I think the key to successful compatibility is not so much in the OS as is in the version of DOTNET. CCS originally was developed on / to run under DOTNET 2.0. It works "out of the box" on Windows 7 because 7 has DOTNET 3.5 which is itself built upon DOTNET 2.0 and therefore provides a 2.0 signature to CCS when you are installing it.
It might be interesting to find out if your "version" of Windows 8 is in fact complete with DOTNET 3.5 or higher with DOTNET 2.0 signature.
Just my 2 cents worth.

By the looks of it, Dotnet 4.0 does not support DOTNET 2.0 applications.
I would be pleased to get someone elses view of this.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview (build 8250):
1. Open Control panel -> Programs and features -> Turn windows features on or off
Enable option ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 & 3.0)"
2. Install all available updates for Win8.
3. Install CCS 5, using "Run as administrator" option.
All works without problems :)
