Hi All,

We've resolved several recent issues in CCS 4.0 and need a few more days to finalize internal tests and confirm a few bug fixes with users who reported specific problems.
However, it's a little known fact that occasionally we temporarily release new product updates directly on our Website without an official announcement; to check if any new users will report new problems, while not exposing our current customers to a risk of using an untested update and running into new potential issues. We're doing this again today and anyone interested can already obtain the upcoming update 4.00.00.015 from our main download page at http://www.yessoftware.com/download/download_form.php?product_id=1
I recommend downloading this version if you already experience problems with any previous CCS4 version.
In the meantime we'll be finalizing the official update release with the list of resolved issues. The above update will become final if no new important issues will be found.

(NOTE: the documentation was not updated yet as we're also preparing a new Web based CMS/Wiki system and will continue documentation maintenace there.)

Since version 4.00.00.004 i have been experiencing the following problem with the parameters being passed. This has not happened before this version and continues with this update.

eg1. http://localhost/website/info.asp?eventid=86&iid=6&iid=6&iid=6&iid=5
eg2. http://www.website.com/////Info.asp?iid=4&iid=5

As you can see the same parameter and or '/' is being repeated. This happens to several of the pages that I have upgraded from previous versions. I hope we do not have to redesign all previously developed pages. This would be next to impossible.

Note this is using the new css menu builder.

The AutoComplete functionality that provides quick access to valid member functions or variables doesnt seem to be working correctly in 4.0. The 'Enable Auto-complete' check box is checked in Tool/Options. For eg., If I have a element on an editable grid and try to fetch its value by doing 'editgrid->ds->element->' it doesnt bring me the auto-complete list.

Is anyone else having problems with CCS recognizing security groups as of .015?

A project that previously let you sign in, now only seems to find your username/userid, but does not seem to find your group.

I put up a test form that prints out what userid/name/group you signed in with, but only seems to get values for username/userid.

Reinstalling version .04 seems to fix this issue.

Anyone else finding this?

Is there any way you can tell us what the updates to 0.15 are, as it stands right now, in this thread?

Thank you.

I notice CCS is changing "IDs" in HTML pages using ASP, like this:

Original CCS3: "<a href="{Link2_Src}" id="LookDen" onclick="OpenPop_UpList();return false;">"
After CCS4: "<a href="{Link2_Src}" id="DenunciasLink2" onclick="OpenPop_UpList();return false;">"

The reason for the beta versions of CCS 3.99.... was to allow users to test and provide feedback prior to the launch of CCS 4.0. It appears that we are still in a beta state. Maybe CCS is in over their head and needs extra help to get this version stable.

Unfortunately, speeking for myself, I was being overly optimistic with CCS developers thinking that they had most of the issues resolved. This has now cost me hundreds of hours of bug finding. I am really getting frustrated as well as several of our customers that are depending on us developers. It is even worse that once in a while (very rarily) we do get a glimmer of hope when Peter sends out a post to reboost the situation. We then find out that we must still wait even longer while nothing gets posted again for a long long long time.........

Is it time to seek out other options. Any suggestions? Any commitment on CCS to keep their users up to date and informed about the status of this product? Improved communication would be better then extra help files at this point.

I do like CCS but right now we cannot afford to risk any more development delays due to unreliable software.

jgabuardi,

Yes, this is correct. CCS also displays a message about this.

FERAD,

I use CCS every day now at several customer locations and somehow we don't see any major issues, just making progress with our applications every day. Some of these applications are so advanced and amazing I'd hope everyone could see them.
There were a few recent important issues submitted to support that affect a % of users and certain applications, which were resolved in version .015. While there are also minor issues that every company solves every day for their customers, just like we do.
I'm sorry but your above issue with "/" seems to be an example of how not to report problems, as it's likely you'd have this problem already resolved by reporting it to our support and allowing us to help you. I suspect that this will always be the case with whichever product you may choose, meaning reporting a problem to other users and not to the company almost guarantees that such problem cannot be fixed. You also wrote that your customers report issues to you, therefore I hope you realize we have to expect the same...
Thanks for your feedback.

Update regarding version .015:
A few issues were reported with CCS examples in ASP.NET/InMotion format, which are being resolved, therefore another update is expected next week. It may also include any additional fixes for issues reported to support.
Generally the version .015 seems to be stable and I will post the list of fixes & changes within 24 hours on the CCS update page http://support.yessoftware.com/updates.asp

FYI, we see fair amount of questions related to the Ajax Modal Window, which seemingly is a documentation issue while in practice this is quite a limited component that just doesn't allow much control. We plan to replace it within coming weeks with a more advanced, draggable version. We are also working on adding Ajax options to the Application Builder.

I qoute Mambobrown's famous response as being one we should all be doing:

Have you contacted support ( http://support.yessoftware.com )??

At times I found that answer to be a shortcut, now it proves to be THE answer.
As it will benefit us all.

@akhan:
Watch this thread, as peterr said on the 9th:

and kept his 'promise' as to post fixes within 24 hours.

Only line missing:
Note: after any CCS version upgrade please press F9 after loading your project into CCS to properly regenerate and republish all project files.
Please do not forget backing up your projects before upgrading.

I have been sending bug reports using the support link as suggested. Still spending considerable time having to recreate pages and code that have not converted properly in the upgrade process. Hopefully the next updates will be more stable.

When will we see this?

Hi,

Currently we have a new update undergoing testing that I hope will be released in the 1st week of June. However, I suspect we've not received enough (negative) feedback about version .015 and I personally don't understand why someone may not use this version or revert to prior one.

andre, can I ask you to describe issuses you've experienced?

Jan,
I use PHP 30% of the time, mainly helping maintain and extend existing projects. And I use C# with InMotion Framework 70% of the time, for a very advanced application. C# just became my preferred language :-)

akhan,
This is being worked on.

Also, we have a delay with finalizing the planned online Wiki system, mainly because it's a somewhat advanced application being created from scratch. We have good reasons to do this rather than installing an existing Wiki system.

Finally, if everything goes as planned I plan to provide other interestig news in June that will surprise you, so please stay tuned!

Thanks for the info. Once Yes releases InMotion documentation then I'll
start using it ... hopefully soon :)

BTW, has Yes consider Ruby? if yes ... any chance we will see it in the future?

Hi Jan,

We do not plan to provide InMotion documentation because we don't want to take responsibility and maintenance of other products. This would be like releasing MySQL documentation and trying to maintain it...
For now I use the documentation at http://code.google.com/p/inmotion-framework/w/list , plus the sample UltraApps Issue Manager application that we provide in CCS Customer Area. There are more tricks in that example than I have seen in advanced PHP applications :-) , including updating 2 forms at the same time. There are also cool ways in InMotion (although not used in Issue Manager) to create form components dynamically, which is not possible with any other technology we support. Also, the performance is 10+ times faster than PHP, although probably not different than any ASP.NET applications.
However, possibly the upcoming Wiki system will open some ways to maintain InMotion documentation on our end. Plus we can provide some help and support, and have contact with InMotion developers.

As for Ruby, we did a lot of research on this technology but this would still require very large time and financial investment, which we have not committed to.

@peterr,
Both latests posts.
Thanks for informing us.

Both the update and the suprise, trigger my imagination, can't wait.

As to Inmotion, it would be interresting to know, perhaps in a separate thread, how this cooperation started, how it was realized and what next to expect. Who did what.
Upon birth of the InMotion option, I immediatly thought of the Zend Framework and even (Ruby) Rails.

Please accept my respect as to being the builders of the tools we use in building the tools our customers use as tools!

Also a thorough well documented setup of both development as well as deployment document as to CCS InMotion, would get me started at that technology too, based on your enthousiasm.

Walter
